Marie De Breucker
Profile
I obtained my Master of Science in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology at Ghent University in 2021. During my six month research internship at the Ghent Experimental Psychiatry Lab, where I investigated an attentional bias to food in patients with anorexia nervosa, my interest in research was further enhanced, especially involving clinical populations. My master’s thesis was also situated within the field of experimental-clinical and health psychology, since we explored the neural correlates of own name processing in infants with an elevated likelihood op developing autism spectrum disorder using an EEG study.
In September 2021, I was accepted to start as an interdisciplinary PhD student at the faculty of medicine and psychology and I became a member of the Ghent Health Psychology lab. This doctoral research, supervised by Prof. Dr. Dirk Pevernagie, Prof. Dr. Katrien Hertegonne (somnology research group), Prof. Dr. Geert Crombez and Prof. Dr. Dimitri Van Ryckeghem (Ghent Health Psychology lab) is part of the Horizon2020 research project Sleep Revolution, and aims to develop and validate a new generic and comprehensive sleep questionnaire, the European Sleep Questionnaire. The ESQ will measure patient-reported outcomes and consists of different modules, assessing basic aspects of sleep, main complaints, factors that affect sleep and symptoms of nocturnal sleep and daytime functioning. During my PhD, I will work closely together with Dr. Elke Veirman, who works as a post-doc on the project.
