
Gunther Van Bost
Profile
Gunther completed his Master in Science of Psychology at the University of Leuven in 1995. He did his internship at the University Hospital of Leuven under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vandenbussche. He also obtained his Bachelor of Philosopy at the University of Leuven. In 1996 he worked at the rehabilitation unit from the General Hospital of Ronse. In 1997 he started his private practice in Oudenaarde. Meanwhile he did his Psychotherapy training and obtained his Degree as a behaviour therapist in 2001. Since 2000 he works as a rehabilitation psychologist at the Centre for Ambulantory Rehabilitation in Deinze. After working with children and adults with a stuttering problem and hearings impairment, he focused on the rehabilitation of people suffering from an Acquired Brain Injury. Since 2002 he also works as a teaching assistant at the Department of Experimental-Clinical and Health Psychology, responsible for the organisation of the internships in Clinical Psychology.
Confronted with the difficulties his patients with an acquired brain injury had in accepting their new life situation, he became interested in doing scientific research about this topic. In October 2012, Gunther has started his doctoral research supervised by Prof. Dr. Geert Crombez (Ghent University). His PhD project is titled "Acceptance and Quality of Life in patients with an acquired brain injury". Within his Phd project, Gunther examines the role of goal adaptation, optimism, cognitive flexibility and personality in the context of acceptance and quality of life.
