Fleur Baert
Profile
Fleur graduated as a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at Ghent University in 2016. Her first encounters with the Ghent Health Psychology lab occurred through writing her masters dissertation on mindfulness-based stress reduction in recovered breast cancer patients. In January 2017, she started working on a PhD project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tine Vervoort, on parental injustice appraisals in the context of pediatric chronic pain. In May 2021, she defended this PhD project. As of April 2021, she started working as a post-doctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Liesbet Goubert on a number of projects concerning the stigmatization experienced by chronic pain patients. Further, as of March 2021, she started working as a clinical psychologist at PRAKTIJK50, with a special interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tine Vervoort (who obtained a grant from the Special Research Fund (BOF) to support this research project), she is currently conducting her PhD research, studying parental appraisals of injustice in the interpersonal context of pediatric pain. This line of research focuses on the phenomenology of parental appraisals of injustice and associated emotions, goals and behaviors and their impact upon child's pain experience. Particularly the potentially mediating role of emotional processes such as anger, is of interest here.
