Annick De Paepe

Annick De Paepe is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Geert Crombez and Prof. Dr. Delfien Van Dyck at the Department of Experimental Clinical and Health Psychology at Ghent University. She graduated as MSc in Psychology (option Theoretical and Experimental Psychology) at Ghent University in 2011 and obtained her PhD in 2016 (“Where is my pain? A neurocognitive investigation of the spatial perception of pain”). During her PhD she studied how the human brain constructs a peripersonal schema of the body in order to deal with potential physical threats, and whether deficits in the cognitive representations of the body could be a central feature of chronic pain pathophysiology. She also completed a master in statistical data-analysis at Ghent University  in 2018. Her current project focuses on the use of eHealth interventions to increase physical activity in chronic pain patients. This project aims to understand and increase behavioural maintenance (the ability to maintain physical activities in the presence of pain/fatigue) and behavioural recovery (the recovery of PA after periods of bedrest and inactivity) using a diary methodology (Ecological Momentary Assessment) and aggregated single case experimental designs in fibromyalgia patients.
