Elke Veirman
Profile
Elke Veirman graduated as MSc in Clinical Psychology in 2007 (Ghent University). She obtained a PhD in Psychology in 2015 on the implementation of the component process theory to emotion and the improvement of self-report assessment methods in emotional intelligence measurement (Ghent University). Furthermore, she obtained an Inter-UniversityCertificate in Psycho-Oncology in 2019 (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Cedric Hèle Institute).
In 2016, she started as a postdoctoral researcher on the H2020 DOLORisk project (measurement of psychosocial risk factors for neuropathic pain), followed by the DG REFORM project (measurement of mental and physical impairments and functional capacities in work disability determination).
She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher on two projects. In the WD-FAB project (occupational medicine), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefaan Vandamme and Prof. Dr. Dimitri Van Ryckeghem at the Department of Experimental Clinical and Health Psychology (Ghent University) and in cooperation with the RIZIV-INAMI, a psychometric validation of the Dutch and French Work-Disability Functional-Assessment-Battery is performed. In the H2020 Sleep Revolution project (sleep medicine), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dirk Pevernagie at the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Ghent University), the European Sleep Questionnaire, a new generic patient-reported outcome measure, is developed and validated.
Her line of research is mainly focused on (1) broader questions that challenge research in psychological assessment in general, and (2) the development, evaluation, and optimization of psychological assessment in clinical and health psychology practice and psycho-oncology in particular.
